A DESTINATION
Old Westminster Winery is a Maryland winery and farm dining destination where terroir-driven wines, seasonal wood-fired food, and thoughtful hospitality come together to showcase the best of Maryland agriculture.
We kindly require reservations to visit the farm.
Eat and drink from the land.
In the rolling hills of Carroll County, Maryland, Old Westminster Winery is a small family farm winery where guests can slow down, gather with friends, and enjoy the rhythm of the countryside. Come for thoughtful food, joyful wines, and a beautiful afternoon that feels far away from everyday life. Weekend reservations fill quickly, so save your table for your next escape.
Siblings Ashli Johnson, Drew Baker, and Lisa Hinton founded Old Westminster Winery in 2010 with a shared vision: to steward the land, craft compelling Maryland wines, create meaningful jobs, and give back to the community. Our mission is simple: to cultivate genuine moments of joy through delicious experiences and celebrate the beauty of life together. Today, that vision continues with Chef Tae Strain, whose background spans acclaimed kitchens in Baltimore, New York, San Francisco, and Washington, D.C. Together, we’re deepening our commitment to local ingredients, the Chesapeake Bay watershed, and the farmers, producers, and watermen who shape this region through a seasonal menu of wood-fired pizzas, small plates, garden snacks, and food made for joyful days on the farm.
Old Westminster Winery welcomes guests for relaxed, reservation-based visits centered around Maryland wine, seasonal food, charming hospitality, and time together on the farm. Named by Eater DC as one of the “best wineries just a short drive from D.C.” and recognized by VinePair as an “American Winery of the Year” finalist, our family-run winery offers tastings, bottles with friends, meals from the wood-fired kitchen, and private gatherings in our cabanas, all set against the backdrop of our working vineyard and rolling countryside. Whether you’re planning a date, birthday, family afternoon, or weekend escape from Baltimore, Frederick, or Washington, D.C., we’d love to welcome you to the farm.
